Rock supergroup Hollywood Vampires hit town

They've lived to tell — sing? — the tale. The Hollywood Vampires is a rock supergroup named by co-founder/vocalist Alice Cooper to celebrate the lives of his "dead, drunk friends," and he's joined in the endeavor by Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry and actor/guitarist Johnny Depp. Back in the wild days of the '70s, The Hollywood Vampires was a drinking club Cooper hosted — and the presumably sober new band performs Saturday in the Grand Theater at Foxwoods.

There's no denying the talent involved and, in addition to the Big Three (yes, Depp's a more than capable guitarist), sidemen include members of Guns N' Roses, Stone Temple Pilots and Cooper's band. The Vamps have released an album of mostly cover songs by artists ranging from Spirit, Jimi Hendrix and Love to The Who, The Doors and Led Zeppelin — and the loose theme would be that a lot of these acts lost members to drugs or alcohol. Expect the show to reflect the CD track list (which does include three new originals) and, yes, you'll hear a toss-a-few-crumbs tunes from the Cooper and Aerosmith catalogs.
