Jeff Beck, Buddy Guy together at Foxwoods

It's sort of hard to believe that someone like Jeff Beck actually has musical heroes. Yeah, sure, when he was young and just starting out, he was like any other aspiring musician with folks who inspired him. But now he's, ah, Jeff Beck. How great and distinct can you get?

And yet Beck has long-proclaimed his admiration for blues maestro Buddy Guy — who, let's face it, was a big deal to other acknowledged giants such as Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan.

That Beck (now 72) and Guy (79) are co-headlining a show Friday in the Grand Theater at Foxwoods is a guitar workshop of rarely equaled possibility because, yes, they're both still at the top of their game. They also refuse to rest on the past. Last year, Guy won a Best Blues Album Grammy for his "Born to Play the Blues" recording. And, a few weeks ago, embracing all sorts of new technology and modern influences, Beck released the politically charged "Loud Hailer."

Will the two actually share the stage together? I'd bet on it.

Jeff Beck and Buddy Guy, 8 p.m. Friday, Grand Theater, Foxwoods; $45-$75; 1-800-200-2882.
