Stage Door performs 'Sardines in Striped Dresses'

They're billing this play as "Arsenic and Old Lace" meets "The Golden Girls."

The show, with the attention-grabbing title of "Sardines in Striped Dresses," focuses on triplets named Prunella, May and Verna. The women's world is turned upside down following some "goings-on" carried out by their brother and uncle.

And the folks behind "Sardines in Striped Dresses" say that, to understand the title, you'll have to see a performance.

The comedy is written and directed by Eugene Celico, and it's playing the Donald L. Oat Theater in Norwich July 21-30. The cast for this Stage Door Theater Company production features Mary Sue Frishman, Geralyn Frishman, Hilary Weissberg, and Bruce Celico.

"Sardines in Striped Dresses," Donald L. Oat Theater, 62 Broadway, Norwich; runs July 21-30; 8 p.m. Thurs.-Sat. and 2 p.m. Sun.; $18, $16 students, seniors, military, $15 Norwich Arts Center members; (860) 887-2789.
