After a bit of a break, Dane Cook has returned to the road. The comic has been doing some gigs as part of the Oddball Comedy Fest as well as some solo ones. About the latter: he'll be doing his own thing Friday at Mohegan Sun Arena. He'll presumably be showcasing some of the material he's said he's spent the last couple of years writing.

Cook has also spent time recently in the movie world. He went animated for 2013's "Planes" and then for 2014's sequel, "Planes: Fire & Rescue." (His character's name? Dusty Crophopper.)

Last year saw the release of "400 Days," a movie with Brandon Routh and Tom Cavanagh in which Cook played one of the astronauts on a 400-day simulated mission to test the trip's psychological impact.

He's also in Starz's upcoming "American Gods," based on Neil Gaiiman's fantasy novel, alongside Gillian Anderson and Ian McShane.

Dane Cook, 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, Mohegan Sun Arena; presented by COMIX: $45, $60; mohegansun.com.
