Sexton sings Saturday at the Knick

Acoustic singer-songwriter Martin Sexton has one of those wide-river and hyper-dynamic vocal ranges that cause an immediate jaw-drop reaction from anyone not named Freddie Mercury, Mariah Carey, Jeff Buckley or Annie Lennox.

Of course, it doesn't hurt that Sexton, who plays Saturday at the Knickerbocker Café, is a helluva good songwriter. Emerging from the busker scene in Boston back in the early '90s, Sexton and his talent and perseverance gradually earned a global presence and fan base. Albums like "Black Sheep," "The American," "Seeds" and 2016's "Mixtape of the Open Road" are emblematic of his finest work, but it's a genuine treat to see him live.

Martin Sexton, 9 p.m. Saturday, Knickerbocker Café, 35 Railroad Ave., Westerly; HOLD FOR TIX; (401) 315-5070.
