Some musicians are constantly evolving and seeking new ways to express themselves. Maybe the fans don't always get it or follow along, and maybe they do. David Bowie, Prince, The Beatles, Steven Wilson, U2, Muse ...

On the other hand, there are plenty of successful acts who are content to stick with the original sonic recipe. Bon Jovi falls in this sector. The title of the band's new album, "This House is Not for Sale," might even be a sly suggestion that they're stylistically happy to remain consistent.

A lot of folks will suggest the hooks on the new record sound tired against an immortal catalog that inclues "Livin' on a Prayer," "Runaway," "Shot Through the Heart," "You Give Love a Bad Name" and several hundred more. But it's also true that "This House is Not for Sale" has plenty of high-energy, listenable moments.

Bon Jovi is also renowned for their old school "big production" concerts — and all of these fun elements should be on display Saturday when the band headlines the Mohegan Sun Arena. They should be at the top of their game; a month ago, BJ set up a secret residency in the venue while they rehearsed for this tour.

Bon Jovi, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Mohegan Sun Arena; with Analog Heart; $125, $195; 1-800-745-3000.
