    'Will Rogers Follies' to open Goodspeed's 2018 season

    Goodspeed Musicals has announced the 2018 lineup of shows at the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam.

    First up will be "The Will Rogers Follies: A Life in Revue," April 13-July 21, 2018. Broadway and Goodspeed veteran David Lutken will play the title role. He appeared in the original Broadway production of "The Will Rogers Follies." He also performed in  "Big River" and "Finian’s Rainbow" at Goodspeed.

    "The Will Rogers Follies" features book by Peter Stone, music composed and arranged by Cy Coleman and lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green. Don Stephenson (Goodspeed's "Guys and Dolls") will direct.

    Next will be Lionel Bart's "Oliver!," June 29-Sept. 9, 2018. Rob Ruggiero, who has directed such shows as "Rags," "Fiddler on the Roof" and "Carousel" at Goodspeed, returns to helm "Oliver!"

    Rounding out the season at the opera house will be "Bullets Over Broadway: The Musical," Sept. 21-Nov. 25, 2018. Written by Woody Allen and based on the screenplay of the film "Bullets Over Broadway" by Woody Allen and Douglas McGrath, the production will be directed by Gordon Greenberg, whose previous Goodspeed credits include "Irving Berlin’s Holiday Inn" and "Pirates of Penzance." Set in the 1920s, the show features songs from the era.

    Season tickets for all three shows start at $108. Advance season ticket packages are now on sale through the box office at (860) 873-8668, which is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    Single tickets go on public sale beginning Feb. 18.
