    Foxwoods welcomes Patti LaBelle

Patti LaBelle is an iconic singer, sure, but she has developed a booming side career in recent years.

LaBelle has become known for her cooking skills. Her sweet potato pie became a hot product after vocalist James Wright posted a video on Facebook of him eating the pie and then busting out into a LaBelle-like song. That was two years ago, and it prompted a run on those pies, sold at Wal-Mart; during the weekend after the video debuted, Wal-Mart was selling one pie every second.

LaBelle has released cookbooks, including, earlier this year, “Desserts LaBelle: Soulful Sweets to Sing About.”

But LaBelle is still singing, too — she released her first jazz album, “Bel Hommage,” in 2017 — and she’s touring, with a Saturday concert scheduled for Foxwoods.

    Patti LaBelle, 8 p.m. Saturday, Foxwoods’ Grand Theater; $35, $50; 1-800-200-2882.
