Swing band Shiny Lapel Trio plays the Social Friday
There's room for more than one person called Tiger in the world and, besides, no one's heard from that Woods guy in a while. Tiger Marion, on the other hand, is the leader of swing/dance band Shiny Lapel Trio, a group with a mesmeric ability to lure people to the dance floor.
Whether mining classic ore from Louis Prima and Nat King Cole, effortlessly conducting rockabilly/two-step-isms from the Mavericks or Johnny Cash, or cruising through their own originals — one tune, "Rock-a-Betty Swing," was used by ESPN to open a "Monday Night Football" telecast a few years back — the SLT is an easily distinguishable and irresistible act.
See them Friday at the Social in New London. Dance-happy shoes highly recommended.
Shiny Lapel Trio, 8:30 p.m. Friday, the Social, 208 Bank St., New London; free; (860) 442-6900.
