Ivoryton Playhouse presents radio play of "Wonderful Life"

The Ivoryton Playhouse is staging its holiday show, "It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play," through Sunday.

The play by Joe Landry was inspired by the classic film by Frank Capra "It’s a Wonderful Life." This production is performed as a 1940s live radio broadcast in front of a studio audience. Five actors perform the dozens of characters in the radio play as well as produce the sound effects.

"It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play" premiered in 1996 at Stamford Center for the Arts in Stamford, Connecticut, and has since been produced around the country. It is traditional, family-friendly entertainment for all ages.

The production is directed by Sasha Bratt, and Frank Natter serves as musical director. The cast is led by Ivoryton Playhouse Associate Artistic Director Daniel Nischan as George Bailey, along with Norm Rutty, David Cardone, Moira O’Sullivan, Rick Malone, Sara Kozlow, Michael Hinton, Addison Marchese, Antonia Marchese and Finnian Boyles.

Performance times are 2 p.m. Sundays, 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturday; there are also 2 p.m. matinees on Dec. 13 and 16.

Tickets are $35 for adults, $32 for seniors, $20 for students and $15 for children. Call (860) 767-7318 or visit www.ivorytonplayhouse.org. The playhouse is located at 103 Main St. in Ivoryton.
