Remember when Robin Thicke had the hottest song in all the land?

In 2013, “Blurred Lines” was everywhere. It was the biggest song of the year.

What goes up must come down, right? Things indeed got tricky for Thicke after that crest of success.

Marvin Gaye’s family sued Thicke and his “Blurred Lines” co-creators for allegedly copying Gaye’s song “Got to Give It Up.” Thicke and co-writer Pharrell Williams were ordered to pay them $7.4 million.

Miley Cyrus twerked on Thicke during a performance of “Blurred Lines” at the MTV Video Music Awards in August 2013, prompting a great hue and cry and social-media public-opinion brouhaha.

Thicke had an acrimonious and very public breakup with wife Paula Patton.

All that happened in short succession, but Thicke weathered the storms, which continued when his father, Alan Thicke, died in December 2016.

But things are looking up on the personal front, as Thicke and girlfriend April Love Geary are expecting a child.

And, music-wise, Thicke will be performing a concert on New Year’s Eve at Mohegan Sun Arena. He hasn’t released a new album since 2014’s “Paula,” although a few non-album singles have made their way out, but he has a trove of other music to pull from.

I can tell you this: When I saw Thicke in concert in 2014, he was a great performer — impressive vocal finesse and great showmanship.
