New London Community Orchestra holds winter concert Saturday

On Saturday, New London Community Orchestra holds a winter concert of classical and holiday selections, with the show benefiting the orchestra's free-lessons program.

The music will range from Haydn’s Symphony No. 104 to Leroy Anderson’s “A Christmas Festival” to selections from Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker” and his “Polonaise from Eugene Onegin.”

In addition, members of the Music City Strings program will perform as a section of the orchestra for “Charlie Brown Christmas” by Vince Guaraldi, and they’ll play as a separate ensemble on Scott Joplin’s “The Entertainer.”

New London Community Orchestra, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Evans Hall, Connecticut College, 270 Mohegan Ave., New London; $10 suggested donation; nlcommunityorchestra.org.
