Groton police, SWAT raid North Road house

Groton — Town police and state police SWAT officers stormed a house on North Road this morning and arrested two men on drug charges.

The Groton Narcotics Unit, in conjunction with the Statewide Narcotics Task Force Police, were investigating drug trafficking in the area. As a result of the investigation, an early morning raid was conducted at 115 North Road.

Because police thought there could be weapons in the home, the state police SWAT team was used to make entry into the house.

Police charged Leon Gregory, 46, with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school, possess of marijuana with intent to sell and risk of injury to a minor.

Angel Atkinson, 20, was charged with possession of marijuana.

Both men live at the North Road residence.

Police said they seized a .357 Magnum pistol, ammunition, an unspecified amount of marijuana, cash and drug paraphernalia.
