The Arts Center at Killingworth held the seventh annual Fashion Week workshops from July 11-22 for participants ages 11-16. Fashion Week II students modeled two originally-crafted outfits – a pajama set and a dressier piece – for families and friends at the week’s end Fashion Show at the Killingworth homestead of couture designer, Astrid Niemelaeinen. Prior to the show, the young designers took part in a professional photo shoot, hairstyling and makeup session.
Fashion Week II was newly incorporated this year, entailing an additional week with a more intensive, in-depth look into the creating and making fashion, focusing on designers Yves Saint Laurent and Coco Chanel. Students in Fashion II complete two portfolio-ready fashion illustrations during morning instruction and completes the actual sewing of both pieces.
