Kris Dunn, a 6-4 guard from New London, will play basketball in 2012 for Providence College. Dunn, in a visit today to the Providence campus with his parents, gave his commitment to coach Ed Cooley, according to The Providence Journal.
“It’s a great day for me, my family and Providence,” Dunn told the Journal. “Coach Cooley is a great coach and he let my family in tight like we’re at home. Everybody loves it.”
Dunn, who is rated the nation’s top point guard by one scouting service, had narrowed his choices to PC and UConn.
“Once coach Cooley went to Providence (last March) he told me he wanted me,” said Dunn. “You don’t really see a lot of head coaches go to a lot of your summer league games but he was at every single one. He was showing me love. That’s what I like about him. He’s trustworthy.”
Providence assistant coach Andre LaFluer, formerly an assistant at UConn, was the lead recruiter of Dunn, according to one recruiting web site.
