What are the major issues for your town? Regionalization

I feel that the primary issue is to maintain the Town of Waterford’s financial stability, keeping taxes controlled and services consistent.
My goal for the next term is to accomplish this through Regionalization. Exploring opportunities for municipalities to share and consolidate their efforts to provide desired levels of benefits to the public in more efficient, cost effective, and quality conscious ways. Partnering with our neighboring towns is a way to deliver the services that residents expect while also realizing the cost savings that taxpayers demand.

Medical Expenses and Union agreements

Currently, medical expenses have been a large drain on our budget with little control. Our effort moving forward will be to standardize these costs by adjusting our CO-Pays to a consistent level across all employees from the Board of Ed and the municipal employee groups. This change should provide a more stable plan for budgeting and hopefully curb the unbridled expense associated with medical costs.

Waterford has had a Capital Plan for many years where we plan for major expenses on an annual basis. With the School Construction Projects, we have had to lower our expectations and minimize the expenses for other municipal work. There is a need to re-establish this funding and begin the process of catching up where we have fallen behind.
