Over the past six weeks, Shore Publishing has captured a vibrant, pink-and-white hippeastrum come into a four-flower bloom at the front desk and summarized it into a one-minute long time lapse.

Erroneously known as Amaryllis, a hippeastrum bulb in its native tropics lives outdoors and blooms all summer. Here in Connecticut, it is a seasonal (Christmas) bulb that is "forced" to bloom in soil or water. This particular species is called "Apple Blossom" and grows about two-feet tall before it blooms.
