I annoy myself EVERYDAY. Life with a toddler is full of non-stop repetition. We talk about a lot of the same things every day and we ask and answer a lot of the same questions.
Honestly, that doesn't bother me. I will answer "WhatsDat, Mama? WhatsDat?" all day without much complaint. But when it comes to the things that actually come out of MY mouth? There are some things I say that annoy the living daylights out of me on a pretty regular basis.
1. "What did Mommy just say?" Seriously, if he heard me or cared he would be listening right now...so this is just a pointless question. Yet I ask it ALL. DAY. LONG.
2. "If you don't [listen, calm down, start being nice to your sister], we will not [go to auntie's, go to the library, go the aquarium, etc]." While I don't really pull this one out all that often, I just can't help it sometimes. And the reason this is so annoying? Nine times out of 10 it is an idle threat, and not leaving the house would really be more of a punishment to me than anyone else.
3. "[Insert arbitrary number here] more bites." After the last post about Little Man's eating habits, we have actually decided not to push meals anymore. So I hopefully I will not be saying this again any time in the near future. But good God, this sentence annoys me.
4. "No [fill in the blank with some potentially dangerous activity]." or "Please stop [potentially dangerous activity]." Little Man is such a good kid. But sometimes I feel like all I am telling him is things NOT to do, despite making a conscious effort to do otherwise.
I know as soon as I post this blog I am going to think of about 10 more things. But with the return to work, my brain is seriously, seriously fried.
Oh, you know what else annoys me about me? My mom-brain. It is bad this time around. Much worse now that I have to go to work and talk to adults and actually sound like I know what I am talking about.
How 'bout you guys? What do you say to your kids that annoys you?
