I went to the high school Thursday afternoon to interview some of the students who were inducted into the school's first chapter of TRI-M, or Modern Music Masters.
Get it, Tri (three) M? It took me a little while to figure that out so I thought I would help those who are confused. (Hopefully I'm not the only one who didn't get it at first glance, and if I am well....)
I'm writing a story about TRI-M for the March 1 edition of The Thames River Times, but I wanted to put this video out there because the choir is awesome. I can't sing so that makes this group extra awesome.
Last Monday, 19 students were inducted into the society, which is similar to the National Honor Society but with a music base. The society is shaped around the same values-- academics, service and leadership.
The students treated me to an impromptu performance of "Only You" which is a song I've heard them sing at other town-related events, but this was pretty cool. Check out Steven Servedio beat boxing near the end!
