Norwich – Construction of the $22 million regional transportation center is more than 90 percent complete as contractors work out finishing touches that will allow Southeast Area Transit to move its main bus depot to the center near Norwich Harbor.
The official grand opening ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, June 9 as the facility features a three-story parking garage and will house the SEAT terminal, ticket offices and a lobby.
Peter Polubiatko, project manager for the Norwich Community Development Corp. told the NCDC board this morning that all but $1.9 million of the total budget has been spent. There have been numerous changes in the project since the design was finalized, and only $84,000 of the $2 million contingency budget has been spent.
Polubiatko said the project remains on schedule for SEAT to move in by early June.
