Report: NCAA will rule on UConn's appeal within 10 days

Some UConn basketball news:

-- NCAA president Mark Emmert told ESPN that the NCAA will rule on UConn’s eligibility for the 2013 post-season in seven to 10 days.

UConn already has submitted its appeal, which was due by Monday, to the NCAA’s Committee on Academic Performance. A decision will be made whenever the committee sets up a conference call to talk about the issue, according to Emmert.

Unless the Huskies win their appeal, they will be banned from the 2013 post-season due to the program’s sub-standard APR.

The strong possibility of a post-season ban already has had an impact. Junior Alex Oriakhi cited that possibility as the reason for exploring a transfer to another program for his final season.

The coaching staff has had to answer questions about the ban on the recruiting trail.

It also could impact whether freshman Andre Drummond and Jeremy Lamb return next season or jump to the NBA. Their draft status will likely be the biggest determining factor on their decision. They have until April 29 to announce their plans.

In other news, Lamb was named an Associated Press All-American honorable mention.
