East Lyme — The Board of Selectmen voted Wednesday to forward to the Board of Finance a request to spend $17,250 for emergency management needs.

The $17,250 would pay for: kitchen renovations at the Emergency Operations Center, $5,825; communications equipment, batteries and office supplies, $2,750; equipment storage shed, $5,175; and maintenance of backup generator and radios, $3,500.

The state Department of Emergency Services & Public Protection would reimburse the town for the costs.

The special appropriation request would need to be approved at a town meeting.
