Norwich — Two men were arrested Tuesday when, according to police, they were caught in the act of burglarizing a local home.

Jose Rivera, 28, of 495 Laurel Hill Ave., Apt. 16F, and David Morales, 32, of 8 Central Ave. each were charged with second-degree burglary and fifth-degree larceny.

Police said they were conducting surveillance at 4 p.m. Tuesday on Morales and Rivera, who were in a car together, because they had received a tip that the pair were traveling in the city and burglarizing homes.

As a result of the investigation, police said they caught the men in the act of burglarizing a home. Police said they recovered various hand tools, power tools, assorted camera equipment, collectable coins and loose change, valued in total at nearly $600.

Each man is being held on a $100,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear Wednesday in Norwich Superior Court.

The investigation into recent home burglaries continues, and police anticipate more arrests.

Anyone with information on criminal activity in the city is asked to call police at (860) 886-5561 or call the anonymous tip line at (860) 886-5561, extension 500.
