CT Polar Bears 16U win Girls Tier II Ice Hockey National Championship

Erin McCarthy of Old Lyme and her sixteen teammates from the CT Polar Bears 16U Ice Hockey team traveled to Texas this past week where they competed against the nations best Tier II girls ice hockey teams in a quest for the National Championship title.

McCarthy scored goals in the quarter final game, semi-final game and championship game. The Polar Bears played a grueling semi-final game against the East Coast Wizards where they had to fight through (4) ten minute overtimes to win the game 3-2.

The Polar Bears finished the tournament 5-1 and won the GOLD MEDAL Sunday, April 1, 2012 in a game against the San Jose Sharks with a final score of 4-3.
