As a career public school teacher and administrator, I have researched, reflected, and thought long and hard on Gov. Dannel P. Malloy's proposed legislation to reform public school education in Connecticut. In doing so I have come to accept that much of what I once passionately held to be true, defended, and advocated for simply has not worked for far too many of our state's students.

It is, indeed, time to shake up and reform the public school systems in Connecticut. I commend the governor for having the courage to bring the legislation forward and encourage state senators and representatives to cast their votes to achieve passage without revision nor amendment.

Our students present and future are too important for this to fail.
