Groton - A Fitch Alumni Foundation event from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday will feature Groton Town Historian Jim Streeter at the Groton Elks Lodge, 700 Shennecossett Road.

Streeter will discuss his recent publication, "Who Was Robert E. Fitch?" followed by a reception with hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar and a raffle.

The $20 ticket price includes a copy of the book. Proceeds from the event will support the foundation, which raises funds to fulfill needs at the high school not funded in the town budget. Streeter, a town councilor and former mayor, is a newly elected board member of the foundation.

"Jim's book was a natural place for us to focus our efforts," said Eric Janney, board president.

Tickets are available at Johnson's Hardware, Par Four Restaurant, Ken's Tackle Shop and Buford's Family Restaurant or by calling Nancy Barnhart at (860) 445-8526. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.
