Norwich -- Norwich police are investigating the shooting of a 19-year-old man near Cliff Street shortly after 12 a.m. today.

The man, whom police declined to identify, was transported by ambulance to The William W. Backus Hospital, where he was treated for a single gunshot wound and later released.

Officers found the man while responding to a complaint about shots fired in the Cliff Street area, police said in a news release.

It appears the shooting "was not a random incident," police said, and the department continues to investigate.

Those with information are asked to call Det. Christopher Conley at (860) 886-5561 or the department's anonymous tip line at (860) 886-5561 ext. 500.
