Miranda Mugovero of Niantic, the daughter of Tabatha Miranda, owner of Cafe Sol in Niantic, has been accepted to the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. Miranda has been performing since age 11. She participated in five productions with Broadway Kids & Co. and then continued performing throughout high school. She was recently cast as Serena in Legally Blonde and was later nominated for her role by the Spirit of Broadway of Connecticut.

Admission to AMDA is extremely competitive, with students coming from all over the world, selected from auditions held in more than 35 cities throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, England, Argentina, Brazil, Israel and South Korea.

AMDA was founded in 1964 as a premier performing arts conservatory. With campuses in New York's Upper West Side and in the historic Hollywood district of Los Angeles, AMDA sits at the epicenter of the entertainment community, making it uniquely suited to offer intensive full-time training and BFA programs in Acting, Musical Theatre, Performing Arts and Dance. The full-time enrollment at the ADMA campuses is 1,000 students.

AMDA graduates are, or have recently appeared, on Broadway in such productions as Chicago, A Chorus Line, Grease, Rent and West Side Story; in films including 3:10 to Yuma, American Beauty, Drop Dead Gorgeous and Sex and the City: The Movie; and on television on shows such as Modern Family, Justified, Nurse Jackie, House, Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Law and Order, The Office and Ugly Betty.
