Twenty eight CAC swimmers attended their third meet of the 2012 Long Course swim season. The meet, sponsored by The Aquabears, a Windsor, CT based US Swim Club, was held on the UConn Storrs campus in the University’s 6 lane; 50 meter competition pool. Competition started on Friday 6/15 and completed Sunday evening, 6/17.

Competitors from other teams became accustomed to seeing the feet and bubbles of CAC’s fifteen 13-Over swimmers. They demonstrated the proficiency of their technique and conditioning with excellent finishes, many in the top ten spots.

Leaving no doubt as to huge improvements in technique and form was a group of CAC swimmers that know challenging themselves is the way to excel and go fast in the water. Winning heats and showing the right stuff were Ledyard’s Katy Franzone, Pawcatuck’s Julia Gavin and Sam Rea, East Lyme’s Josh Goldstein, Mystic’s Emily Tran, and Waterford’s Cat Ward.

Leading CAC’s charge for fourty-three Top Ten finishes in 13-Over Division swimming was Ledyard’s Jessica Hespeler (17). The two-time Connecticut Open Champion and a 2 event Junior National qualifier swam to five 1st place and one 2nd place finish. Hespeler competing in the Girls 15-Over Division finished 1st in 5 events; the 100 Free (1:00.08), the 200 Free (02:09.29), the 400 Free (4:28.43), the 100 Fly (1:07.44), the 200 IM (2:31.57), and 2nd in the 200 Fly (2:27.93).

Waterford's Asia Langley (14) competing in the Girls 13-14 Division finished 2nd in 3 events; the 50 Free (28.86), the 100 Free (1:03.20) and the 400 Free (4:48.49). She finished 3rd in 2 events; the 100 Fly (1:09.76) and the 200 Free (2:19.01). Asia finished 4th in two events; the 200 Fly (2:45.79) and 200 Back (2:41.11). She finished 6th in the 100 Back (1:14.86).

North Stonington's Andrew Janz (17) competing in the Boys 15-Over Division finished 2nd in two events; the 100 Breast (1:15.53) and the 200 Breast (2:45.84). He finished 4th in the 400 IM (5:30.00), 5th in the 100 Fly (01:09.16) and 9th in the 100 Free (1:00.81).

North Stonington's Noah Vetrovec (14) competing in the Boys 13-14 Division finished 2nd in two events; the 200 Back (2:31.80) and the 200 IM (2:35.02). Noah finished 5th in the 200 Free (2:18.51), 6th in the 100 Back (1:13.93), 7th in the 100 Breast (1:26.63) and 8th in the 100 Free (1:03.37).

Westerly's Logan Hellwig (16) competing in the Boys 15-Over Division finished 2nd in the 100 Fly (1:05.17), 3rd in three events; the 100 Back (1:06.34), the 200 Fly (2:41.57) and the 200 Back (2:29.92). He finished 4th in the 50 Free (26.15), 7th in the 200 Free (2:11.58) and 9th in the 200 IM (2:38.83).

Ledyard's Jordan Legg (13) competing in the Boys 13-14 Division finished 2nd in the 50 Free (27.89), 5th in the 100 Free (1:02.00), 7th in the 200 Back (2:48.95), and 10th in the 100 Back (1:17.70).

Mystic's Adam Tran (17) competing in the Boys 15-Over Division finished 4th in the 100 Free (59.32), 5th in the 50 Free (26.17), 7th in the 200 IM (2:34.89), and 8th in the 100 Fly (1:11.17).

Groton's Luke Watson (18) competing in the Boys 15-Over Division finished 6th in the 100 Breast.

North Stonington's Lea Janz (14) competing in the Girls 13-14 Division finished 9th in the 400 Free (5:14.31).

East Lyme's Michelle Saracovan (13) competing in the Girls 13-14 Division finished 10th in the 200 Breast (3:23.80).
