Montville — A man who tried to hide from police after he was clocked going 78 miles per hour was arrested Tuesday after he was found to be in possession of a stolen handgun, three separate types of drugs and drug paraphernalia, police said.
Justin P. Weissinger, 25, of 151 Brush Hill Road, Lyme, led Montville police in a pursuit after police officer Gregg Jacobson clocked Weissinger speeding. He abandoned his car in a driveway in East Lyme and tried to hide behind a residence there, police said. He was found a short time later with the assistance of a police dog.
Weissinger charged Tuesday in East Lyme with criminal possession of a firearm, disobeying a police officers signal, possession of drug paraphernalia, interfering with a police officer, sixth-degree larceny, driving with a suspended license, possession of a controlled substance, reckless driving and possession of a weapon in a vehicle.
He was held on a $50,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Norwich Superior Court today.
