National anthem should be sacrosanct

I was disappointed to read The Day was sponsoring a contest for the best rendition of the national anthem. There should be only one: the way it was written.

We are the only country in the world to allow any person, be they celebrity or common man, to violate our anthem by changing it to suit their needs in it's singing.

They do this either because they can't sing it as written, or because of their ego.

Almost always the song is butchered or even miss-sung by the person honored to sing it. I think Congress should pass a law requiring the anthem be sung as written or only played instrumentally.
