Seeing sunsets at Connecticut River Artisans

For years, Those Who Are Visually Creative have predicted that, in terms of artistic focus and inspiration, "around 2:20 on any given afternoon, probably in that cluster-of-auto-repair-shops section of Queens" will replace "sunsets." It hasn't happened yet. Artists still seem preoccupied with the breathtaking color-glories as the sun sinks below the horizon. Take Fran McMullen, for example. As per her "Tides" (shown here), she's a terrific photographer who is completely enamored of sunsets, and a recent series thereof called "Sky Brewed Water" opens Saturday at Connecticut River Artisans, 4 Water St., Chester. Show runs through Sept. 30. Hours 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Tues.-Sun.; (860) 526-5575, ctriverartisans.org.
