New London — A car leaking natural gas sent emergency response teams to a parking garage at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital Thursday afternoon.
The leak was minor and did not cause an evacuation of the hospital, L&M spokesman Mike O’Farrell said.
A security guard making his round of patrols smelled the gas and, following proper procedure for such an event, called 911, O’Farrell said.
“There was no evacuation, no real issue,” O’Farrell said.
Cars were allowed to leave but not enter the hospital garage for a brief period of time as police and fire personnel investigated the leak.
The car was towed from the parking garage.
