Groton - U.S. Navy WWII veteran Edward Beebe of Noank stared into the shadow box containing replacements of his service medals from his service aboard the destroyer USS Ralph Talbot during the war.
Congressman Joe Courtney was at Beebe's home Friday to present them. Beebe received the American Theatre Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Medal with two bronze stars, the Combat Action ribbon, the Discharge Button and the Honorable Service lapel pin. The original medals were displaced during the movements of Beebe's life and had not surfaced in more than 66 years.
Beebe's family contacted Rep. Courtney for help in securing replacement medals for those that were lost and for those he never received.
