New London — Officers in training for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration are now studying at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

The academy recently welcomed the 12 members of NOAA’s Commissioned Officer Corps’ Basic Officer Training Class 120 as they transitioned from Kings Point, N.Y. to begin an 18-week officer training program.

NOAA assigned a staff of three commissioned officers to the Chase Hall barracks, specifically to the Officer Candidate School. Over the course of the program, NOAA officers will train with 41 Coast Guard Officer Candidates that arrived on Aug. 9 and will be commissioned on Dec. 6.
