Groton - The Connecticut Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation will host the 2nd Annual Summer's End SUP Classic on Sunday, Sept. 16, at Esker Point Beach in Noank.
This year's stand up paddleboard event features a sanctioned three-mile race, a one-mile sprint race and a two-mile fun paddle.
There will be three board divisions: Surf Class (12'2 and under), Race Class (12'6) and Unlimited (over 12'6). Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers.
The cost is $40 per racer and includes entry into all races. The entry for the fun paddle is $25. There will also be prizes, giveaways, music, and a beach cleanup.
Check-in time is 9 a.m. with races starting at 10 a.m. To register go to http://ct.surfrider.org/sup. All proceeds will be used to benefit programs that protect and restore Connecticut's waters and beaches.
