Obama auto bailout didn't help Janesville

The Day posted a commentary, "Ryan feeds faithful a diet of whoppers," (Aug. 31), that said Paul Ryan's implied comment that President Obama failed to keep a GM facility open in Janesville, Wisc., was a bald face lie since the liberal "Washington Post Fact-Checker" stated that Obama visited the plant in February 2008 and that GM announced the plant closing in June 2008.
Well, Fact-Checker didn't tell us that in October 2008 Obama said, "As president, I will lead an effort to retool plants like the GM facility in Janesville so we can build the fuel-efficient cars of tomorrow and create good-paying jobs in Wisconsin and all across America."
Then in January 2009 President Obama gave GM over $17 billion in stimulus money to keep facilities open and the Janesville plant wasn't closed until April 21, 2009. I say that Obama is more to blame than Bush because it happened under his watch. He'll take credit for the Osama bin Laden death under his watch, but not Janesville. That figures! Oh, by the way, GM may be in financial trouble again (bankruptcy?) with American taxpayers out $24 billion and counting.
