State trooper injured in I-395 crash

Griswold — A state trooper was injured tonight when a car struck his cruiser during a traffic stop on Interstate 395 southbound between exits 86 and 87 near the Plainfield line.

A motorist who called The Day said the accident occurred at about 7:30 p.m. after the trooper had pulled over her boyfriend’s car. Shortly after, another car struck the cruiser.

State police confirmed the accident tonight and said the trooper had been taken by ambulance to a hospital, but they did not release an identity.
