Lina McGlinchy learns the ingredients of the empanadas served up by Melissa Miers of Trapiche Restaurant in Chester at this year's well-attended Taste of the Valley fundraiser for Tri-Town Youth Services. It was a beautiful late-summer evening for the Taste, held at the Deep River Historical Society Sept. 7. Tasters were treated to everything from hors d'oeuvres to dessert and a silent and live auction. Brushmill by the Waterfall was the overall winner and takes home the coveted fork trophy-at least until next year.

How will you spend September 11th?
I will pay tribute by attending a commemorative event in my hometown.
I will watch the 11th anniversary memorial at ground zero on television.
I will go about my day as I normally do, but will silently reflect on those who lost their lives and all that's happened since.
I think of September 11th as a day like any other.
