A feast of fotographs

Looking back over history's great works of art, one can accept that, in terms of inspiration, angels, madonnas and seraphs seemed to do the trick. On a less celestial but still wondrous level, consider the artistic glories at hand during the reception for "Food, Fresco, Farm, and Fotograph," a celebration of food at Six Summit Gallery in Ivoryton. Featured is a juried art exhibit with appropriate works by several noted food painters including Kathleen Lee, whose "Apples" is shown here.

A celebratory reception takes place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the gallery, and a farmers market, music, live cooking demonstrations, dancing, face painting, henna and fresh food are all part of the fun. Show runs through Sept. 30; (860) 581-8332, sixsummitgallery.com.

I will watch the 11th anniversary memorial at ground zero on television.
I will go about my day as I normally do, but will silently reflect on those who lost their lives and all that's happened since.
I think of September 11th as a day like any other.
