The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for New London County until 11 p.m.

There is also a wind advisory in effect for the county through 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Heavy rain and winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour, with gusts between 50 and 55 miles per hour, are expected tonight. The NWS says to expect downed tree limbs and power lines with the possibility of power outages.

Showers and thunderstorms could bring between 1 and 2 inches of rain to the New London area, the NWS reports, and could cause localized flooding.
