Griswold – Children First Griswold will hold the first annual Family Fun Day on Sept. 30 to celebrate “healthy bodies and healthy minds.”

Sponsored by the town’s Youth and Family Services Department, the event will run from noon to 4 p.m. at Veteran’s Memorial Park on Ashland Street in Jewett City.

The event, coinciding with national Childhood Obesity Awareness month, will feature a petting zoo, pony rides, music, face painting and literacy activities. There will also be a “Move and Play” area with jump rope, hula-hoop, potato sack races and three-legged races. Children 10 and under who collect six stamps while participating earn a goodie bag.
