Norwich — The Norwich Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9/11 Memorial Committee will host a chicken dinner fundraiser Sept. 24. The event will be held at Post 594, 30 Connecticut Ave., 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Proceeds will be used to build a memorial at Chelsea Parade for Norwich residents Jacob Martir and Keith Heidtman, who were killed in Iraq. Tickets, which are $10 each, can be purchased by calling the VFW at (860) 892-1400 and will be available at the door. Anyone who cannot attend the dinner but wants to make a donation can send a check to the city treasurer. The check should be payable to “The City of Norwich” with “Post 9/11 memorial fund” in the memo.
