While The Last Green Valley organization is holding its annual Walktober event, it is also expanding its scope of October festivities. It is sponsoring its first Last Green Festival, running Friday through Sunday at the Brooklyn Fairgrounds.
The guiding principal of the fest is to promote sustainability, greener living, and the preservation of this region.
But there's entertainment to be had, too, amid the ecological goals.
It's quite a musical line-up. On Friday, Jeff Pitchell & Texas Flood is joined by guest J. Geils. Third Eye Blind leads the line-up on Saturday, and Ricky Skaggs stars Sunday. There's much more beyond that, too, with 80 bands total, including New Riders of the Purple Sage checking in Sunday.
An Artisans' Village showcases work by artists. BMX bikers display their riding talents during an exhibition.
For kids, there's a musical petting zoo, yoga, hula-hoop-making and T-shirt tie-dying. They can create recycle musical instruments and use them in a parade.
Exhibitors and demos to do with greener living will be part of the festival, too, of course.
