The National Federation of Independent Businesses has endorsed Republican state Rep. Christopher Coutu in his candidacy for the 19th state Senate seat.
“I have known Chris Coutu for years, and I am supporting his campaign for state Senate because we need someone who will support small businesses,” said Kevin Maloney, owner of Northeast Express Transportation Inc. and chairman of the NFIB/Connecticut Leadership Council. “For far too long, small businesses have struggled under high taxes and burdensome regulations. With Chris in office, we will have the opportunity to solve some of these challenges.”
Coutu is competing for the 19th state Senate seat with Democratic Sprague First Selectman Cathy Osten. The 19th Senate District includes the towns of Columbia, Franklin, Hebron, Lebanon, Ledyard, Lisbon, Marlborough, Norwich, Sprague and a portion of Montville.
“I am grateful to have the support of the NFIB and the small business community in my campaign for state Senate,” Coutu said. “During these tough economic times, we must do more to create jobs and improve the business climate. We need a senator who will vote for smart legislation to help small businesses grow and begin hiring again.”
