$50,000 reward offered in Cirioni homicide

The state is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the death of Erika Cirioni, a 26-year-old Norwich woman who was last seen alive on New Year’s Eve 2006 and was reported missing by her mother.

Her remains were discovered off Oxoboxo Dam Road by a group of children playing in the area in March 2012. The state office of the Chief Medical Examiner could not determine a cause of death, but based on the circumstances of the case, her death is considered a homicide.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy authorized the $50,000 reward, which is the maximum allowed under state law, at the request of New London State’s Attorney Michael L. Regan. Investigators believe the offer of the reward may give impetus for a person with knowledge of the crime to step forward.
