The University of Connecticut and General Electric will announce a five-year, $7.5 million initiative next week that the school and the company say will bolster the state's technology sector and promote innovative new products for distribution of electricity.
The initiative will be announced at the headquarters of GE's Industrial Solutions division in Plainville.
The press event will detail how the company "will work with UConn's engineering students and staff to develop new electrical-protection technologies to advance the industry."
Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and UConn President Susan Herbst are scheduled to speak at the event, which is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday.
