Saint David’s Episcopal Church in Gales Ferry welcomes all creatures great and small (and their owners)to the annual Blessing of the Animals on Sunday, October 7th at 1:00 pm in the church's St. Francis Grove. For over 20 years on the first Sunday in October Saint David's has provided the community to remember the dedication of St. Francis of Assisi and his love for all of God’s creations. All are welcome to the church to participate in having their beloved animals blessed regardless of faith affiliation. It is truly a non-denominational event that is focused on the love of the animals. It is an opportunity to give thanks for our faithful animal companions and have each receive an individual blessing from the Rector, Pastor Mary Canavan. Some people may choose to bring photos of their pets if it is difficult for their pets to attend the blessing or a favorite stuffed animal.

In case of inclement weather, the blessings will take place in the Parish Hall. All animals should be restrained by leashes, cages, fish bowls, etc. and provisions made for clean-up should the need arise.
