Groton — Theresa Madonna, the Republican candidate for state senator from the 18th district, will open her Groton headquarters Wednesday night with the help of former gubernatorial candidate Tom Foley, the former U.S. ambassador to Ireland.

The opening will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at 80 Plaza Court between the Groton Post Office and Benny's.

"First of all, I am honored that Ambassador Foley will be in attendance at the opening of our headquarters next week. He is an accomplished individual and I believe he still has a lot to offer Connecticut Republicans and the state in general. I very much look forward to hearing what he has to say about what it takes to win in this corner of the state, and I am sure he will add to the excitement that my campaign is generating already. I am confident that he will inspire all of my supporters who attend the opening into working hard for the last month of the campaign to ensure that we are successful on November 6th," Madonna said in a statement.
