In an effort to help area voters get to know the state senate and state representative candidates for the upcoming Nov. 6 elections, the Essex Library is hosting two debates to be held in the Valley Regional High School auditorium at 256 Kelsey Hill Road in Deep River. Voters from throughout the area are invited to both.
The first debate, Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m., will feature the candidates for state senator in the 33rd District. They are Republican Art Linares, Democrat Jim Crawford, and Melissa Schlag of the Green Party.
The second debate, slated for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 23, will feature the candidates for the state House of Representatives from the 36th District. They are Democrat Phillip Miller and Republican Vincent Pacileo.
Both of the debates will be moderated by Essex Library Director Richard Conroy. Voters are urged to send their questions for the candidates to the Essex Library, either via email at email@example.com; via U.S. mail to the attention of Richard Conroy, Director, Essex Library, 33 West Ave., Essex, CT 06426; or in person at the Essex Library. Questions for the candidates will be vetted to insure that they are submitted by residents of the districts involved, and all questions must include the questioner's name, address and contact phone number, for verification.
The debates are open to anyone who would like to attend.
